This morning, my eyes held to this verse: I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. (Ezekiel 36:14)
Though spoken by the Lord regarding his restoration of Israel, I saw more — something there for each one of us today. Read the words slowly. Break it into bites like this:
I will put my Spirit in you.
When God puts His Spirit in us, we are changed in ways that transform us. Everything about us is altered when His Spirit comes in. Anxiety is replaced with peace. Confusion is replaced with direction. Anger and hatred are replaced with calm and love. We set aside judgment and choose patience and lending help to those in need.
You will live.
When we are filled with the Spirit of God and have this life transformation, everything becomes different. We move from a survival mode to truly living. We grasp life joyfully and gratefully. We feel excited about our part in His great design. We seek out our purpose and live it enthusiastically. We bear fruit. We truly live!
I will settle you in your own land.
When our lives are transformed by the Holy Spirit, and we live obedient to God with complete abandon, He will indeed settle us in a place of faith and blessing. Our land will be a place where God reigns supreme. It will be a place of growing daily in His wisdom and love; it will be a place of comfort and peace, of complete security. It will be living under the wing of the Almighty.
Beautiful! Unfortunately I lost all belief in Jesus Christ after leaving the mormon church. I attend bahai meetings not to be spiritually alone but I miss my christian belief. I don’t believe in miracles/resurrection anymore. Does God exist? Who knows…
I am approving this for post because I want to say to you if you are missing your Christian belief it is because Jesus is calling you back to Him. I don’t know your story, but I hear disappointment and tremendous pain and I want to pray with you about that, for your healing and that you will reconsider your faith. May God bless you, Miguel, in just the way you most need.
Thanks for your kind words. It’s not pain I feel but desappointment because after leaving the mormon church all my belief in Jesus was destrouyed. I believe that he existed and was a very good man with revolutionary ideas for his time. Ideas of love, compassion, friendship and respect to each other. He was a Saviour because if we do what he said peace and harmony will abound. But nothing than that, maybe in the future my belief in him as the Messiah, as the Son of God will come, who knows.
3 months ago I almost died with a stroke and I remember feeling good and not being afraid of death/returning to God. In spite of everything maybe I’m still on the good path.
Beautifully said, Pat. I will pray for you, also, Miguel!
My how you have a way with words, Pat. That, my friend, is the Holy Spirit in you that you speak so truthfully about.
Thank you, thank you, for writing this. I am still learning about the H.S. and this is what I had hoped the Spirit of God does in our lives. I don’t see this much, though, in the lives of those around me.
God bless you. Keep up these Prayerful Ponderings.
